March 30th, 2003.The OFNA 9.5 MBX was converted to a monster truck
Shortly there after it was converted back and has lived a happy life as a buggy!
This is the place where I tell about the OFNA 9.5 MBX
March 7th, 2003, I decided to get a new TMaxx, due to cost and availability I was unable to find one. So as a back up plan which was my original to get an 1/8 scale buggy for this summer season, I purchased this OFNA 9.5 MBX. I was originally after the Ultra LX Pro because of the cost. Then after about an hour of starring at the 9.5 Pro and the MBX 9.5 I decided to spend the extra money to get a few of the upgrades already on it. I knew I would need these in the future so why not get a break on the price. I didn't like the color scheme of the chassis. The paint scheme isn't too bad, except the checkered flag. I do love the large carrying bag it came in. I didn't need the radio equipment, but the 25 motor was the real selling point.
Okay 2 days after I bought it I have the first tank of gas run through it but the weather has put a halt to all further break-in attempts. It feels good and is easy to start when warm. I am concerned about the noise it makes when cold and the difficulty starting it cold. I already have the radio and receiver changed. I never actually used the radio that came with it.
March 23rd, 2003. It didn't last long as I began the conversion to make this a monster truck. The engine is almost broke in and works great. So from know on this is no longer a 9.5 MBX it's know known a Monster MBX 9.5 or MMBX 9.5
May 17th, 2003. I did not like its behavior or the way it drove as a monster truck, furthermore I found it a let down and very UN-reliable so I returned it to it's original state as an 1/8th scale buggy. After racing it on May 18th and winning every heat and race I decided it's a much happier buggy and probably will continue to race it as a buggy for the remainder of this years racing season. Especially after the servo arm incidents I've had with it.
June 29th, 2003. This as a buggy works great. Race results and my driving skills are improving on a weekly basis. Except the motor is not real reliable. If the tuning trouble dose not improve I will be forced to go with an O.S. Motor and a bump start system instead of the troublesome pull starter. Fuel efficiency is also a slight problem with this motor. Power dosen't seem to be an issue
July 8th, 2003. Okay I installed a head shim and started running 30% Trinity Monster Horsepower fuel and an O'Donnel plug. the tunning and engine reliability has gotten much better. I was able to complete well almost complete 3 heats and The A-Main. By almost I mean the fuel consumption sucks, it will run no longer than 5 and 1/2 minutes on a full tank. The chassis and other stuff remains pretty tough and reliable.
I will have more as soon as it happens
